Your location history stays on your iPhone.

Radar is an iPhone app provided by Nix Labs LLC, which also operates this website. It has no account, advertising, analytics SDKs, or tracking across apps and websites. Nix Labs LLC does not receive your recorded location history.

Optional location history

Recording is off until you enable it and grant location access. Radar saves recent location fixes on your device to show your route and where you were at the selected radar time. Small movements and GPS drift are filtered out of the displayed route.

Background recording is a separate option, off by default. When enabled, recording can continue while the screen is locked, with the system location indicator visible. iOS may pause or stop location updates.

Radar keeps a rolling three-hour history. Older points are removed while recording and when the app becomes active. If iOS suspends or stops the app, a local history file can remain until the app next runs. History is excluded from device backups and uses iOS file protection.

Your controls

Turn recording off or choose Erase location history in Radar’s Settings. Turning recording off stops new recording; erasing removes stored locations, including saved drives from pre-release versions. Recording continues after erasing if it is still enabled.

You can also revoke permission in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Radar. Radar can be browsed without location permission. Deleting the app removes its local data.

Map and radar requests

Apple provides the base map. Iowa Environmental Mesonet at Iowa State University provides NOAA radar imagery for the contiguous United States.

Loading maps and radar sends service requests that include your IP address and the map area or tile coordinates being viewed. Apple may also process device and location information as described in its privacy notice and according to your permissions. Radar does not attach your recorded route or an advertising identifier to radar requests.

Other information on your device

Radar stores your appearance and recording preferences, recent radar timestamps, and cached weather images locally. Caching reduces repeated downloads; iOS may remove cached images. Location history is not sold or uploaded to Nix Labs LLC.

This website and support

This website has no advertising, analytics scripts, contact forms, or embedded third-party content. Its own code does not set cookies or store identifiers in your browser.

Delivering the website requires processing routine connection information, such as your IP address and requested page. The hosting service may process operational and security logs. Links to other websites are governed by those sites’ privacy practices.

If you contact Nix Labs LLC, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address and message. We use it to respond and resolve the request, and retain it only as needed for that purpose or applicable obligations. Please omit precise routes or other sensitive information unless needed for your question.
